Local MP Tom Brake is encouraging small and medium sized businesses in Carshalton and Wallington to check their eligibility in order to help cut costs and carbon through the Carbon Trust's interest- free loans scheme.
Thousands of small businesses have already slashed their annual energy bills under this scheme, some by as much as 75% by replacing their old inefficient equipment with new energy- saving models paid for by Government funded Carbon Trust loans.
Now the eligibility criteria of the loan has been extended. The minimum loan amount has been lowered to just £3000 and the upper limit has been doubled to £400,000 to meet the needs of small and medium businesses with high energy spends.
Tom says of the scheme 'This is great news for small and medium businesses in Carshalton and Wallington. This interest free loan could help local businesses to recover from the recession by cutting their energy costs and at the same time cutting their carbon footprint.'
Tom went on to say 'In most cases, local businesses taking out this loan to update their equipment will find the savings they make on energy bills will exceed the cost of the loan repayments. '
Tom Brake is now contacting the Carbon Trust to see if his constituency office is eligible.
