Local MP Tom Brake took part in a 12 hour sponsored table tennis marathon, organised by Wallington's Crusaders Table Tennis Club, to raise money for the Sutton Association for the Blind (SAB). The event raised £1300, which will be shared equally between the club and charity.
SAB was established in 1965 to support and assist blind and partially sighted people by offering everything from special equipment to home visits, one to one outings, talks and lunches. The charity's manager was pleased to receive support from the club. "I was delighted. They managed to raise awareness of both their club and the charity. We are very grateful to the Crusaders."
Mr. Brake took on the club's finest on the 4th of July, and after a sound drubbing from Michael (14), was glad to comment. "It's great to see these impressive young talents applying themselves for charity. Today has seen a comprehensive win for Michael, a politician routed and a telling victory for SAB and the Crusaders."
