Foresters Primary School opened its brand new sporting pavilion this week, and invited Local MP Tom Brake and sponsors to attend. The fully-featured facility, which cost in excess of £320,000, was funded entirely through grants and charitable donations.
Mr. Spring, the Headmaster, thanked all of the various partners who had supported the project from inception to completion. These included grants from the Football foundation (represented by Carolyn McRoyall, County Development Manager at Surrey Couty FA), the London Marathon represented by David Galton (treasurer), LBS Extended Schools, LBS Access Funding, the Disability Partnership and Garfield Western Foundation.
"As a school where sport is very close to our hearts, this new pavilion will not only inspire our children to achieve their potential but allows us a wonderful opportunity to work with our local community to develop disability football".
Special mention was made of the school's bursar, Mrs. Jo Garvin, who had tirelessly fundraised virtually the whole cost of the project.
Before an exhausting football tournament, the whole school turned out to hear local MP Tom Brake praise the good work that had gone on, and the very impressive building that now stands on Foresters' school playing fields.
"The new pavilion offers great opportunities for children to fulfil sporting ambitions, to keep in shape and to have a lot of fun. I commend the school for taking such an initiative, and thank Foresters Community Fund for holding the event today."
The school has already formed partnerships with Sutton Eagles and Carshalton Athletic Football clubs.
