Local MP Welcomes the Success of the 'Hot Water Burns Like Fire' Campaign.
Tom Brake MP has welcomed the success of the 'Hot Water Burns Like Fire' Campaign which he has long been a supporter of.
The campaign called on the Government to prevent scald injuries by fitting thermostatic mixing values (TMVs) to all new baths. New building regulations have now been introduced that seek to prevent scalding through the installation of protective devices that limit the temperature of water supplied to any new fixed baths to 48 °C.
Upon hearing the news Tom said, 'I am delighted that these new regulations have been introduced. This simple measure will reduce the number of children who suffer the pain of scalding injuries each year.'
The campaign was supported by Age Concern, the British Burns Association (BBA), the Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT), the Children's Fire and Burn Trust (CFBT), Help the Aged, and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
