Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington visited Amy Johnson Primary School today to present certificates to fifteen pupils who have been recognised for their good behaviour as part of a good citizenship scheme.
The certificates were awarded to the students who had won a competition in which they gained citizenship points every time they carried out an act of good citizenship for example helping people, tidying up in the library or sweeping the school playground. The students will also be rewarded with a day trip to Imber Court, where the police train horses, with the Beddington Safer Neighbourhood Team.
Tom said, "It was great to see such well behaved children who were right to be proud of their achievements and were clearly looking forward to their day out in June".
Melanie Elsey, Headteacher of Amy Johnson Primary School said "It has been a fantastic way of using our partnership with the Safer Neighbourhood Team and a practical way of bringing their citizenship lessons to life."
After the assembly, Tom spent time with year six students responding to a wide range of questions from what he liked most about being an MP to what he had done to help Roundshaw residents.
