Following his meeting with the Secretary of State for Health on Wednesday, Tom Brake MP, is seeking a further meeting with Health Minister Simon Burns MP who leads on NHS health services and reconfigurations.
Tom said, "In our meeting, the new Secretary of State for Health the Rt. Hon Andrew Lansley MP confirmed that he believed that the Better Healthcare Closer to Home project passed all the appropriate tests. However, he also confirmed that, as has been widely reported, all projects authorised by the previous Government since the 1st January 2010 were under review."
A review is necessary because of concerns that unfunded pledges might have been made in the last few months of the Labour Government.
Tom added, "For this reason the NHS Trust and I aim to meet Simon Burns MP to seek guarantees that the £219 million is secure."
