Tom Brake introduced a 10 Minute Rule Bill to parliament which sought to reverse decision by the House of Commons to back government plans to tightly protect what the public can know about government information and spending.
Tom wants to make sure that the government and all MPs are fully accountable to the people that elect them.
You can watch Tom speaking in parliament introducing his 'Freedom of Information Amendment 2 Bill' which would not only protect Freedom of Information Legislation, but also reinforce it.

Urgent Action on Carbon Monoxide Needed - Brake

Local MP Tom Brake has urged constituents to fit their homes with an audible carbon monoxide alarm and to have their gas appliances checked annually by a CORGI registered installer following a report that revealed that London topped the list of regions that are most at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning,

Ignorance of Life-Threatening Condition Puts more Diabetics at Risk

Tom Brake Lib Dem MP for Carshalton and Wallington is calling for greater screening for diabetes after worrying figures revealed that there has been a steady rise in the number of emergency admissions to local hospitals for a life-threatening condition which develops if diabetes remains undetected.

MPs meet Minister to discuss Henderson

The Henderson Hospital campaign has cross party support as Liberal Democrat MPs Paul Burstow, Tom Brake and Norma Lamb met with Health Minster Ivan Lewis, Conservative Shadow for mental health Anne Milton and Labour MP Lynne Jones were unable to attend after the date of the meeting was re-arranged but both were eager to show their support for the pioneering mental health hospital which treats severe personality disorder. The meeting took place the same week as the National Commissioning Services Group are due to publish their report on the need of people with complex personality disorder.
