On Friday July 13th, Tom Brake MP joined pub landlord Julian Norton behind the bar to pull a few pints in one of Carshalton's prize assets, The Racehorse Pub, 17 West Street, Carshalton.

Tom used the opportunity to discuss with Mr Norton, issues which are affecting landlords the length and breadth of the country, one of which is the recent ban on smoking within enclosed public places.

Speaking after the event Tom Brake commented "With pubs increasing the number of services they provide, including being suggested as a replacement for closing Post Offices in rural areas, and providing a range of full-time and part-time flexible jobs, their role is becoming increasingly important to the community. Their central role must be acknowledged."
