Tom Brake MP for Carshalton and Wallington spent the morning at Wallington Library on Wednesday 3rd December presenting a classical selection for a CD recital.

Seventy people enjoyed a compilation of music including Johann Sebastian Bach's prelude and Fugue no 8 in E flat minor and D sharp minor and Johannes Brahms' Intermezzo No2 from Op117.

The event was part of a programme of Coffee concerts run by the library. The programme, presented by Tom, emphasised the friendships that linked some of the world's greatest classical composers.

'Those friendships must surely have been one of the reasons for such an explosion of musical genius in such relatively short period of time, the shortest two hundred years ever.' commented Tom.

Talking after the recital Tom said: 'It was a great chance people to join together in a shared love of music. The coffee concerts are a great example of the many cultural events that take place in Carshalton and Wallington'.
