In the next stage of her campaign to secure the release of her husband, Mr Al-Sarraj, detained in a US facility in Baghdad called Camp Cropper, Shereen Nasser and Tom Brake MP for Carshalton and Wallington lobbied the Iraqi Charge d'Affaires, Mr Al Oraibi on Friday.

In a meeting with Shereen and Tom which lasted forty five minutes, the Charge d'Affaires agreed to contact the Iraqi Human Rights ministry with details of Mr Al-Sarraj's case.

Mr Al-Sarraj remains in detention in spite of a ruling in April by an Iraqi judge that the Iraqis had no case against him.

The US authorities have stated that they are still assessing his case and will release or relocate him in due course.
